The Hobbit Hole

In a hole there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.

Action RPGs Revisited…

Articles such as this
one make me revisit my intention of doing an Action RPG. Disturbingly, I’ve seen these types of rumblings for a while. In my defense, I’m not doing strictly an Action RPG. There will be more puzzle elements (and I don’t mean like the lame jumping puzzles in BG:DA). Still, it makes me wonder if the market is saturated the way the RTS market was a few years ago. Stumble into a mega-hit like Diablo II and BG:DA, and now everyone thinks they can do one, me included.

Oh well, that’s the turmoil of the independent game developer. Welcome to the jungle.

Haskell Functional Programming Bookstore | CafePress

I read a good portion of Implementing Functional Languages: a tutorial and have to say it’s a very good book if you’re a “discover things from the inside out” kind of person like I am.

Haskell is one of my favorite languages, though I admit that I’ve never written anything substantial with it. There’s a certain beauty to functional programming, especially if you like mathematical notation.
